As the largest multi-functional economic center in China,Shanghai has been expanding on the basis of its century-old

municipal system till now. In the 19th century, while they were dumping goods and purchasing raw materials in China,

the British merchants had also brought in their indigenous cultures and technologies. Then, in mid and late 20th century,

these cultures and technologies had been adapted to the situation of China. As a result, we can still feel impressions of

this adaptation here and there in Shanghai, which are not only the historic tracks of this city’s development, but also

evidence of the interaction between different cultures. With the theme of “show”, the Shanghai-London Metropolis

Square aims to faithfully present the trade and cultural relationship between China and the UK during the last century.
